Tick-borne diseases affect 100-300 million people worldwide. The care of more than one hundred million patients is inadequate and unsuitable. You can contribute to the suffering of hundreds of millions by signing a petition to improve the status of patients with borreliosis, Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases and to ensure proper treatment. In the United States alone, even the most conservative estimates reveal that 1,200 people commit suicide each year due to the symptoms of Lyme disease.
Lyme disease has become an epidemic that will grow into the next pandemic if nothing is done. Getting help for millions of seriously ill people has proven to be very difficult, and patients have been left without help with their severe symptoms.
With this appeal, we plea to decision makers that patients with their symptoms should be heard and seen early enough. With the petition, we want to draw attention to how people are treated equally and humanly when seeking help or entering treatment. We wish to influence on how the numerous symptoms of the disease are properly treated, and how investments for research and treatment of Lyme disease are channeled.
Measures needed to improve the situation of patients and ensure appropriate treatment:
- Demonstration of inadequate treatment of Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases
- Equal encounter of patients in seeking treatment and in the treatment situation
- Early diagnosis of Lyme disease and proper treatment
- Official approval of a chronic form of Lyme disease
- Expanding the disease classification of patients with diverse symptoms and adequate treatment
