Joonas, 43, is a Finnish Film director from Lapland. He has been sick with Lyme disease for the last nine years. Everything started when he travelled to Kenya 2011 to film his documentary film about girls’ and women’s rights. After returning to Finland, his health collapsed.
The symptoms became more severe every year. Joonas reached out to several hospital chains and doctors. At last, he found a doctor who was able to help. This journey took Joonas around the world, from Germany to US. During his trip he understood how big issue this is worldwide.
At the moment, Joonas is feeling better, but the fight with a chronic disease will never stop. In the future, Joonas wants to focus on the well-being and patient rights of Lyme disease patients in his career.
